Would it not make more sense to promote electric mobility in the outer districts and in the area around the city?

The definition of the search areas in the limited time allocated to Phase 1 was preceded by an intensive assessment of demand. In the course of this assessment two target groups were identified, which needed the current charging infrastructure most: carsharing and vehicles in the inner city.

The needs-based development of the charging infrastructure will begin in January 2016. This will no longer be tied to the stipulated search areas, but can take place in the whole of the city. The charging infrastructure can then be expanded over the whole city by showing evidence of demand (e.g. through the possession of an electric vehicle) and provided it is technically feasible.
